Painting from Photos

My lesson this week was about painting from photos and understanding that a light object (a white shirt) in the shadow, is darker than a dark object (maroon beret) in the light. (Hard to grasp, I know)
I did this as a practice demo the night before.

I'm glad I did because the one I did in class was a wiper!
I  am still not totally comfortable painting in front of a class.
It's hard!

We divided our palettes in half and mixed all the shadow values on one side and all the light values on the other.
It's a "disciplinary action" that works!
